My Son, the College Graduate!

I am not sure why just the idea of writing this post makes me so emotional but it does.
Actually if I really think about it, there are several reasons.

1. It has taken Matt 6 years to get through college and there were times I wasn't sure it would really happen, so you can imagine my tears of joy!

2. Life has not always been easy for him, both from mistakes of his own making and from things completely out of his control. But I can honestly say that today he is happier than I have seen him since he was six years old, in his neon pink bike shorts, riding his big wheel in the driveway. Nothing like a happy child to make a mom cry!

3. He is my youngest child. So with every "first" in Sarah's life I was there to celebrate and encourage, and with Matt I dreaded each one. He is my last child to graduate and will soon be my last to leave home. Honestly, where have the years gone? Again the tears!

4. I am so proud of the man he is. He is a loyal friend, a hard worker, and he loves to help others.

5. That whole mother/son thing, well lets just say it is alive and well around my house.
He keeps me sane. He calms me. He understands me. I value his judgement. I love him.

Love this face!

Congratulations Mattie!

Totally had me tearing up, too. Glad you added that last picture to lighten the mood. Can't wait to celebrate with him on Saturday!
