Why I Love Sixth Graders

Me--(fussing at the kids for not raising their hand for permission to talk)

"Do you ever wonder what makes some kids sit patiently and do what they are supposed to do and others blurt out answers and talk when they are not supposed to?"

Student--(with perfect timing and a dry sense of humor)

"Medication??"

I walked by a student with a small bottle of lead spread all over his desk and a mechanical pencil in ten pieces. I just gave him a strange look and he said...

" I have OCD."

Taking a chance I asked him what that meant and he said...

" Obsessive Cleaning Disorder!"

They sound so funny and cute in these posts, but I'm reminded when I see large groups of them exactly why I'm a high school teacher :)

"To each his own..."

Your kids scare me sometimes!! One of the things I would love though about being a high school teacher is that the kids will remember you. You always look back and your favorite teachers, with few exceptions, were high school teachers. They were the ones that impacted your life. You forget middle school. Oh well I guess I am just helping them get to you!!
