I have a narrow wall in my kitchen and I had been wanting to make it into a chalkboard for a long time. David was not thrilled with the idea, but I was sure that I would like it. So I went to Lowe's and got the supplies last week and got busy.
I decided to make it magnetic as well so that took three coats of a magnetic paint first. Then one coat of the chalkboard paint. It did not take long. The three coats of magnetic paint had to dry 30 minutes between each one. The main thing you have to be careful of is that you keep the paint stirred up while you are working so the magnetic particles stay mixed up.
Then I let that dry overnight and painted the chalkboard paint the next morning. What do you think? I really like it.

And on Friday afternoon we dodged the rain and took dad's fishing boat out on Norris for a little ride! It was almost 5:30 before we got in the water but we rode around for an hour, stopped at Twin Cove marina for a little supper, and then rode around for another hour. It was a great evening. Thanks Dad.
The dam...

While we were at Laura and Terry's last week, she served us this delicious cake. It is Giada's cornmeal and rosemary cake. I am pretty sure I ate more than half of it myself. Really. So when we got home I had to try it for myself. This is a recipe that I would never have picked out on my own. But trust me it is delicious. The sauce on the side is made of balsamic vinegar and sugar. Trust me it is YUMMY!!
And tomorrow I am back to work.
I have to be at a data team meeting in south Knoxville at 8:00 a.m. and them a leadership team meeting for the rest of the week at PMS.
With a new classroom, new lab, new computers and new textbooks though, I am really excited.
I am "fired up about some learnin" as our principal says!!

What is it with principals and fire? Ours says "Go teach like you hair's on fire!"
That is too funny!
